Privacy Policy

Overview

Pineapple Split is a product of Banana Analytics PBC ("Banana," "we," "us"), which operates pineapple-split.com and the Pineapple Split commission reconciliation service. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the service. Because Pineapple Split is operated by Banana Analytics PBC, account and legal correspondence is handled under the Banana Analytics name.

Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials, which are managed by our authentication provider, Clerk. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google. We do not receive your Google password.

Billing information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your card number. Stripe provides us with your email, subscription status, and billing history.

Commission statements you upload. The core of the service is reconciling the commission statements you upload. These files may contain personal and business information, including insured or member names, policy and member identifiers, plan and product details, agent names and identifiers, and commission amounts. We extract, store, and process this data to reconcile expected against actual commissions, flag discrepancies, and compute downline payouts. We retain the original parsed row for each line so that every figure can be traced to its source for audit. We do not log in to carrier portals and we do not store carrier credentials. You upload files; that is the entire data relationship.

Unknown statement formats. When you upload a statement in a format we have not seen before, we may send the column headers and a small number of sample rows to our AI provider, Anthropic, to suggest how the columns map to our standard fields. This is used only to propose a mapping for your confirmation. If AI-assisted mapping is unavailable, unknown formats route to a manual review queue instead.

Usage data. We collect product analytics (pages visited, features used, actions taken) through PostHog to improve the service, and we use Google advertising and conversion tracking to measure the performance of our ads. We do not sell your data.

• To send transactional email (account confirmation, billing receipts, service notices)
• To improve the product and measure our marketing

Service providers we share data with

We share data with vendors that operate parts of the service on our behalf, under their own security and privacy commitments. These are: Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payments), Neon (database hosting), Vercel (application hosting), Anthropic (AI column mapping for unknown formats), PostHog (product analytics), and Google (advertising and conversion measurement). We do not sell your data or the contents of your statements to anyone.

Your data is yours

Your reconciliations and payouts export to CSV and PDF at any time. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data by emailing the address below; we will remove it except where we are required to retain limited records for legal or accounting reasons.

Security

We do not store passwords; authentication is handled by Clerk. Payment data is handled by Stripe, which is PCI DSS Level 1 certified. Application data is stored in a managed Postgres database. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Children's privacy

The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. The "last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
